The Unfinished Lecture is an event series hosted by Strategic Innovation Lab at OCAD University and sponsored by Torch Innovation. Part of the Unfinished Business initiative, the lectures are intended to generate an open conversation about strategic innovation in the business and design of commercial enterprises and public organizations. One recent event posed the question: "How can activism, philanthropy and filmmaking combine to create a platform for sustainable and constructive social innovation?" It featured a screening of Abigail Disney's unforgettable film, Pray the Devil Back to Hell, the extraordinary story of a small band of Liberian women who came together in the midst of a bloody civil war, took on the violent warlords and corrupt Charles Taylor regime, and won a long-awaited peace for their shattered country in 2003. After a screening, Ms. Disney talked about the work, its challenges and the opportunities it has created. The series offers a chance to learn about innovation through exposure to great work, but more importantly, we can meet and hear directly from, the people who make the work happen.
