Uma Maharaj has worked several years in human resources, diversity and entrepreneurial roles in the financial services and technology industries.  She holds a BSc in Natural Sciences from the University of the West Indies, an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently completing her MDes at OCADU's Strategic Foresight and Innovation program. Her research topic is Canadian immigration, using a systems-thinking lens in an effort to find innovative intervention points.

Uma is a business advisory board member at Integris Pension Management Corp. She also volunteers at the York-Durham Aphasia Centre as a communications facilitator, helping clients with aphasia and other communication difficulties lead more connected lives.  She is always looking to leverage her training and experience in design, innovation, business and science in roles that will make a societal and business impact.
