Peter is a US citizen who moved to Canada to discover new movements in socially-responsive innovation. He was a founding faculty in the SFI program and maintains connections to international research and design communities of practice, which he hopes to connect to student interests.
Dr. Jones sustains an active practice with the Redesign Network an innovation research company that leads research and multidisciplinary design for organizations with complex information challenges. Peter has designed leading information services in healthcare, scientific, legal, and business sectors and conducts human-centred and systemic research to understand future possibilities and guide innovation.
Peter’s healthcare work has focused on information services in care practice and clinical education. He has led design and research for leading decision and educational services and interactive products for physicians, nurses, and medical students. He wrote Design for Care to help designers deliver systemically relevant solutions for the complex problems in multidisciplinary healthcare services.
Peter leads the Canadian centre of the Institute for 21st Century Agoras, an international organization founded by Dr. Aleco Christakis that promotes the practice and science of dialogic design for democratic, collaborative action for complex societal concerns and organizational strategy. Peter founded and organizes Design with Dialogue, an OCADU-supported community of practices hosting monthly co-laboratories for designing social engagement through dialogue processes. Design with Dialogue has introduced 3 co-creative engagement communities for Systems Thinking, Visual Thinking, and leadership for social action (Unify Toronto Dialogues).
