Can communities use design to change the way business is done? In his talk Alex will tell the story of how he and his team broke every rule in the publishing industry to create a bestselling management book. Business Model Generation: A Handbook for Visionaries, Game Changers and Challengers was co-created by 470 people from forty-five countries, financed through an online community and pre-sales, self-published and distributed globally through Amazon. The book features a highly visual design delivered by Toronto firm, The Movement. Alex will also reveal his newest project, ‘The Value of Profits’, a book and toolbox for entrepreneurs who want to go beyond “mere” profits to have a substantial impact in the world in terms of sustainability, social impact and poverty alleviation.
